The first page you will want to add to a blank notebook is a new top-level page.
This is a page that has no parent page. Every notebook with pages will need at least
one top-level page.
You can add a new top level page by right-clicking anywhere on the Notebook tab
surface and selecting
Page -> New Top-level Page. You can also use the
hotkey
t. Just be sure the Notebook tab has focus. To move focus
to the Notebook tab, you can click on the Notebook tab with the mouse or press the
hotkey
Ctrl+Space until the left frame is highlighted by the highlight
border. The
Ctrl+Space hotkey jumps focus between the left frame, center
frame and the bottom frame when it is visible.
After adding a new top-level page you will see a new entry in your Notebook outline
named "New Page."
